Below are some of the most commonly asked questions about Frozen Garden green smoothies, our shipping methods and our optional subscription program. If you have a question that’s not answered below, feel free to contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
That's a great question! All of our smoothies are Non-GMO Project Verified and we follow the Environmental Working Group’s Dirty Dozen™ when it comes to organic. Any item that is on the Dirty Dozen™ list of highest pesticides levels, we source either commercial certified organic or it's grown by one of our small local farmers without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This includes items such as spinach, kale, apples, grapes, cucumbers, pears and more. Items that are not on the Dirty Dozen™ list, such as bananas and avocados, we source those conventionally.
First of all, you won’t find any powders or supplements here! We nutritionally design each one of our green smoothies to give you a daily dose of fruits and veggies. Each gluten free green smoothie pack starts with a base of dark leafy greens (think kale and spinach!), followed by healthy omega-3 fats, nutrient-dense superfoods and rounded out with a unique combination of flavors. Then, we layer in fresh fruits and vegetables, mostly from local farmers, that are picked at peak season. We blast freeze those fruits and veggies to retain maximum flavor and nutrients. You also won’t find any added sugar or artificial sweeteners in our smoothies. Instead, we use naturally sweet whole foods such as fruits, dates and spices.
Heck no! We handcraft our green smoothies to blend in any blender. We even test our vegan smoothies using a variety of blenders including a $19 Osterizer from our local Kmart. Note that blending time will vary based on the quality of your blender. Our favorite blender? NutriBullet creates a line of blenders that are affordable and do an amazing job at blending our smoothies!
Each regular size smoothie pouch makes a 20-ounce smoothie. We recommend blending our regular size smoothies with 1½ cups of liquid to make a 20-ounce smoothie and our junior size smoothies with 1 cup of liquid to make a 12-ounce smoothie.
Depending on personal preference, you can increase or decrease the amount of liquid. Using more liquid than recommended will create a thinner, milder tasting smoothie. Using less liquid will create a thicker, more robust tasting smoothie.
Frozen Garden green smoothies will last indefinitely when properly stored in your freezer. But for maximum quality, we suggest you blend and consume smoothies before the “Best By” date on the back of the package (typically 6+ months from date of purchase). It’s important to keep smoothies frozen until ready to blend. It is NOT recommended to thaw any of our green smoothies prior to blending.
Our green smoothie pouches are BPA-free and can be recycled in most residential recycling programs. They are plastic #7 so be sure to check your local recycling program to see what numbers they take.
Please recycle your green smoothie pouches to reduce the amount of plastic going into our landfills! When recycled, these pouches are broken down into recyclable regrind, or tiny pellets that serve as the main raw ingredient used to produce other forms of flexible packaging or items like plastic tables, park benches and even dog toys!
At Frozen Garden, nothing goes to waste! We believe in being good stewards of the environment. That’s why we donate 100 percent of our scraps/waste to Great Inspirations Farm for composting which reduces landfill waste and incineration, and therefore emissions.
Did you know? Organic waste that ends up in landfills decompose without oxygen and produce methane, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Not only does donating scraps reduce landfill waste, compost also returns valuable nutrients to the soil to help maintain soil quality and fertility. Great Inspirations Farm uses this compost to feed the soil that grows the kale and spinach that we use in our green smoothies—and that’s what we call full circle.

Yes, there is a minimum order amount of $35 due to the logistics and cost of shipping frozen items.
Due to the logistics of shipping frozen and ensuring your smoothies arrive in a timely (and frozen) manner on your doorstep, we have a set Shipping Schedule based on your location. All orders ship via UPS Ground. The Shipping Schedule may change during weeks that contain a UPS holiday.
We offer half off shipping for orders more than $75 and free shipping for orders more than $125. If your order is less than the discounted/free shipping threshold, you can save $3 by shipping to a business/commercial address.
Absolutely! We are committed to using environmentally conscious and sustainable shipping methods. That’s why we use an insulated liner that’s made from natural mineral wool, dirt and rocks. When you dispose of the insulated liner, the inner mineral wool fiber will break back down into dirt and rock over time. The cardboard box is 100 percent curbside recyclable.
Our green smoothies are packaged with enough dry ice to keep them cold for the duration of transit. However, due to unknown conditions during shipment it is best to bring the package inside and transfer the smoothies to your freezer as soon as you receive the shipment, so they don’t thaw out.
Very carefully! We wrap the dry ice in brown paper and it will be on top of your smoothies. It’s the first thing you’ll see when opening the box and the liner. You may put the paper-wrapped dry ice in a bowl and place in a well-ventilated area, away from pets and children. The dry ice will dissipate over time and when gone, you may recycle the brown paper it was wrapped in. Do not open and touch the dry ice with your bare hands as it may cause burns from the extreme cold.
