Smoothies vs. Juice
Smoothies are made with whole, unadulterated ingredients, pulverized to liquid consistency with nothing discarded. On the other hand, juices represent just a small portion of what’s left over after the liquid has been separated from the skin and fiber — which make up the bulk of most veggies and fruits.
So basically juices are sort of like Oreos with the filling removed. Why would you throw out the best part? Smoothies on the other hand, have everything intact, just like the whole Oreo… um, kind of. :)
Aside from the obvious waste created by tossing all of the juicing leftovers in the trash, all that fiber is valuable stuff! Fiber plays a critical role in regulating blood sugar, lowering cholesterol, supporting bowel health, and promoting regular bowel movements. Fiber also feeds the healthy bacteria in our guts — making it potentially even more beneficial than taking probiotics.
And two added perks of smoothies: a blender costs about a quarter of what a juicer costs, and can be cleaned by simply popping it in the dishwasher. Juicers, on the other hand, can be found collecting dust in cabinets across America, neglected after just a few uses because of the absolute headache of cleaning them.
What about powders?
The next best thing to real veggies and fruits is… real veggies and fruits. No powder can come close to real whole food, no matter how pricey or well marketed. Frozen Garden green smoothie pouches are packed with 100% whole food you can see.
